Trips

To challenge your adventurous soul, we would like to introduce you to several natural wonders in Pranburi as follow:

Hua Hin train station

Hua Hin's popularity began to increase in the 1920's as the railway line from Bangkok was constructed and King Rama VI built Klai Kangwon Palace as a summer retreat. Hua Hin's station is one of the oldest in Thailand and its main feature is The Royal Waiting Room that used to welcome King and his court when they were visiting the town. Originally, it was situated at Sanamchan Palace in Nakorn Pathom and was known as Plub Pla Sanamchan. Eventually, the room was transported to Hua Hin. It is designed in the same style as Maruekkhathayawan Palace and is an attraction not to be missed. The train station is located at the top (west end) of Damnoern Kasem Road.

Hua Hin local market

The best known of these is definitely Hua Hin night market. A visit here is an absolute must during your stay. It is located in the centre of town and runs up from Petchkasem Road to the railway line and opens from around 18.00. Most stalls will start to break down at approximately 23.00, however some selling food will stay open until dawn. The market is a fascinating insight into Thailand and the way Thais like to live. You will find countless outlets selling delicious food that is freshly cooked and served to you within a matter of minutes. Do also take a look behind the stalls on the pavements because there are plenty of restaurants there as well. Other than the food, you'll discover an overwhelming variety of local handicrafts, souvenirs and clothing on sale. The night market can get very hot and busy at weekends, so take your time here. Prices can also be a bit more expensive than other markets in Hua Hin, but they still represent good value.

GOLF COURSE

Royal Hua Hin

Designed by a Scottish railway engineer and opened in 1924, Royal Hua Hin golf course is only 5 mins from the centre of town and was the first course to be constructed in Thailand. Whilst there are no real water hazards on the course, all fairways are tree-lined (they are hundreds of years old and have their horticultural names affixed to them) and many of the greens are protected by being slightly elevated. Scoring well is always hard here. The scenery is outstanding and the views of the Gulf of Thailand and Hua Hin itself are particularly impressive on the back nine. Playing this course is a must and a real step back in time and history.

Designer: O.A. Robbins (a Scottish railway engineer).

Palm Hills

The first of the "new" courses to open in 1991, it was the venue for the inaugural Thailand World ProAm tournament in 1993. It is relatively flat with a fair amount of water and set amongst the hills that run to the west of Hua Hin.

Bangkok Golf and Milford Resort/Seoul Country Club

This is not the longest course around, but it is one that will require great accuracy. It is easy for even the most experienced golfer to run into problems here. The scenery and views are spectacular and be careful on the greens - they are as fast as lightening.

Designer: Robert McFarland

Course: 18 holes, par 72, length 6,614 yds

Springfield Royal Country Club

This is probably the most famous course around Hua Hin and has been the venue for many major championships, including The Thai Open. It is always in wonder condition and will present a challenge to all golfers. The layout has been cleverly thought out, as you would expect from the Jack Nicklaus team and the views of The Gulf of Thailand and the surrounding terrain are breathtaking. The clubhouse is one of the best in the area and a great place to relax after your round and reminisce about the experience.

Designer: Jack Nicklaus
Open: 1993
Course: 18 holes, par 72, length 7,063 yds
Facilities: Driving range, chipping green, putting green, pro shop, electric cart hire, clubhouse and restaurant.

Hua Hin travel by plane

All year round river cruise for exploring a reserved area for a number of local birds and fishes just 8 kilometres away from the resort. The best time of the year for water birds watching would be at the end of rainy season.

The close proximity of Hua Hin to Bangkok probably made them financially unlivable. More latterly, the airport went through massive development extending the runway and terminal facilities to upgrade it to an International airport. Again this idea never got off the ground - literally - and the whole concept has been postponed indefinitely, although the development did take place.

Nowadays, there are only daily flights to and from Bangkok through SGA on board a 12 seater Cessna Grand Caravan. The flight time is 30-45 mins

Departures and arrivals to and from Bangkok are currently listed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport which makes connections for international flights more easy. However, it should be noted that certain domestic airlines have been moving back temporarily to the old Don Muang International Airport whilst repairs are carried out at Suvarnabhumi. It is essential that you check which airport is being used at time of travel.

Talu Island

This privately owned island sits a 30 min boat ride away off the coast of the increasingly popular town of Bangsaphan which is a 2-3 hour journey by car, south of Pranburi Excursions depart Bangsaphan at 9.00am and return at 1.00pm. Try to avoid weekends when things can get really busy. You can also book trips to Koh Talu direct from Resort however there is around 3 hours travelling each way invloved.

Koh Talu scuba diving and snorkeling

Koh Talu has lovely palm fringed beaches and a shallow reef that is ideal for snorkeling. Fish life is thriving and you'll see parrotfish, wrasse, seargent major fish and a good variety of hard coral. It is the closest place to Hua Hin that you can go scuba diving, depths are around 14 meters max and visibility ranges from 5 to 15 meters. It is ideal for beginners as currents are slight and there is some good coral formations a little deeper and surrounding the smaller islands off Koh Talu.

Pran River Cruise

All year round river cruise for exploring a reserved area for a number of local birds and fishes just 8 kilometres away from the resort. The best time of the year for water birds watching would be at the end of rainy season.

Pranburi Mangrove Forest

It is considered to be the largest Mangrove forest in Thailand with an ongoing project of preventing flood and sewage treatment under the Royal Patronage. The main attraction would be the romantic wooden bridge that will take you through the forest.

Sam Roi Yot National Park

The 98-sq-km park covered with limestone mountain ranges, mangrove swamps, and beaches and is also home to various kinds of resident and migrating birds. Some of the major fascinating attractions are:

Tham Kaew

ITham Kaew - located in Chan valley and as the name implies the cave is full of beautiful and fascinating stalactites and stalagmites that are illuminated when touched by any source of light.

Tham Phraya Nakhon

Tham Phraya Nakhon - is a large and beautiful cave where a couple of holes on the roof act as natural ventilation allowing the light to reach the cave floor. The most famous attraction of the cave would be “Phra Thinang Khuha Kharuhat”, a gable-roofed pavilion constructed during the reign of King Rama V and with its beauty the pavilion is now used as the symbol of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.
